Tuesday's Tasks

First of all, I wanted to say thanks for all the well wishes for Genna. She was so excited to go back to school today. Then she was thrilled when she got mail today. Grandma & Grandpa Koski sent a card with some stickers and Shane(Troy's brother) and Morgan sent some fun Polly Pocket toys.

There was such a gorgeous sunset tonight.

I finally made a little cover for my sewing machine. Are you proud of me, I *sniff, sniff* cut into one of my favorite thrifted pillowcases? It looks like I need to hem it up a little more. I did line the cover because it was quite see through. The green ribbon is not quite as obnoxious looking in real life.

Spent most of today doing laundry and then working on craft show stuff. Here is a sneak peek at one of the projects...

Connor's Turn

Saturday was Connor's turn to go to a Nebraska football game. It really hasn't been the best year for Nebraska football, and I don't think Connor was as excited to go to the game as he was when Troy first bought the tickets a month and a half ago.

But they had a perfect day- the weather was gorgeous, the Cornhuskers won and Connor got to meet several players after the game. We couldn't get him to stop talking about it when he got home, he was so excited! Go Big Red!

Home

Genna and I got home last night from our 2 day stay on the top floor of one of Lincoln's finest. We had room service, got matching bracelets and had someone waiting at our beck and call, all we had to do was touch a button. There was a galley kitchen with yummy crushed ice and fountain pop. The playroom was pretty snazzy as well. There were a couple gaming systems, a big red wagon you could ride the halls in and several very fun puzzles.

The drawbacks to our little vacation were the blood draws every 8 hours, dragging around the IV machine everywhere we went, and having to swallow some pretty yucky medicine.

After several scary days of high fevers and vomiting, they admitted Genna to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. Shortly after arriving, they found out the cause of her troubles- pneumonia. Even though, I hated having to bring my child into the hospital(I just like taking babies home from there) I was so grateful to finally get some relief from her discomfort. The IV/hydration finally made it possible for her to get some real rest, or as much as possible when they weren't poking and prodding at her.

She still had a fever, but Genna started perking up a bit on Thursday and finally was able to eat some food again. A very nice nurse, sent us on a little field trip down to the cafeteria to pick out what looked good to eat. After we got back to our room, we found a special quilt waiting there for us. I had seen people on flickr talk about Project Linus quilts, but I had no idea what they were talking about. Then, later that night she was happy to have Daddy, the boys and Grandpa Bennett come up to visit.

By Friday, she was doing so much better. And even though the playroom was really fun, she started asking to go home. We saw the doctor around noon and she said they would go ahead and discharge us that day. She got to ride the wagon down to the car. We were so happy to finally be going home. We all slept great in our own beds last night. I am very thankful for modern medicine and the huge benefit it has been to my own children.

the Countdown has begun

Someone pointed out to me today that Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away. Yikes! Everyone knows how incredibly fast the weeks are after Thanksgiving. I seriously need to get organized.

This cute cookie cutter idea came from Amber. I worked on Genna's I spy bag tonight and almost finished it up. Just need to buy a little bit more filler and then top stitch.

My little sweetie is still very sick, so if you want to send any prayers our way, they would greatly be appreciated.

Sick

I just hate it when my kids are sick. Ok, so I don't know of very many mothers who enjoy watching their children suffer, but you know what I mean. To watch your child who is usually so full of sugar and spice, lie around all day, is troubling to say the least.

Genna's fever spiked up to 104.6 early this morning and then I really started getting scared. Thankfully, it was right around that time, that she finally agreed to take some medicine. It did help to take down her temperature. And she has been great about taking the medicine since then.

This afternoon while she was resting I decided to make her Dora doll some pajamas, so that she would be more comfortable hanging out with Genna in bed.

We're hoping for a good night's rest and a better day tomorrow!
